Boundary Waters Blues Festival
July 29 - August 1, 2010
Welcome to the 10th Annual Boundary Waters Blues Festival web site. We invite you browse the site and check out what's new. We tried to answer all your questions, but if we missed something, contact us via email at info@rangeblues.com.
It's hard to believe that we've been doing this for 10 years. There have been a lot of changes since the beginning, but one thing remains the same, Michael Jankovec, has been the personality and driving force since the beginning.
As always, the event will have an easy, casual feel. The new site has plenty of space to move about. Parking is convenient and camping is right on site. Directly across from the performance area is Crystal Lake with a boat landing and fishing dock. Mikey will continue to come up with new and playful ways to entertain you between acts. The national and regional performers for 2010 are a mix of some of our old favorites and some new acts as well.
What has changed, in addition to the location, are facility improvements. We still have on-site camping, but it will be handled through the Itasca County Fairgrounds. Pricing will remain reasonable. You will also have picnic tables, fire rings, laundry, bathrooms and showers. Although camping is still on-site, it is vastly improved from previous years. Huge pine trees cover the area, dense enough to provide shade, yet spread out enough to grow grass throughout.
Also new is the location of the Kick-Off Party, KAXE Radio has joined us as host of the Thursday Night Kick-Off Party at their own stage on the Mississippi River in downtown Grand Rapids, MN. We have long admired this radio station and are thrilled to partner with them for this event.
For the 10th Anniversary, we have added an additional day that puts a new twist on the event. Sunday will be a relaxed, acoustic day of great music, leaving you with enough time to get home at a reasonable hour.
We are right at the Mesabi Trail head for those of you who would like to take a walk or bike ride. And if fishing is your thing, Crystal Lake, right across the street, has a boat landing and fishing pier. We have heard that it is a good crappie lake.
Grand Rapids, as a community has welcomed us with open arms, which has made our lives a lot easier. They understand events and want to help the Boundary Waters Blues Festival succeed in their community. Grand Rapids,MN has an abundance of places to stay and eat.
We hope you can join us for our 10th Anniversary Boundary Waters Blues Festival in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The new location of Grand Rapids, Minnesota has put fresh new excitement into the event. The community of Grand Rapids has welcomed the blues with open arms and have worked to help make our transition an easy one.
